About This Course

“Crypto for Lawyers: Legal Ethics & Regulatory Developments” is a free (self-paced) online course consisting of video lectures and recorded interviews developed by the UC Center for Business Law SF. Professor Abe Cable discusses legal ethics issues involving crypto, including a Q&A with leading practitioners in the field. In addition, you will learn about the regulatory status of crypto, including from the general counsel of a major issuer of stablecoins and related crypto products. No prior expertise in crypto required! 

**This course also provides 1 hour of California MCLE self-study credit, including 0.5 on legal ethics. 




Faculty/Speakers

Professor Abraham Cable UC Law SF, Faculty Director UC Center for Business Law SF

Professor Abe Cable joined the UC Law SF faculty in 2011. He graduated from the University of Puget Sound, BA History (1997), and Harvard Law School in 2000, where he served as an editor and member of the articles committee on the Harvard Law Review. Prior to joining the faculty at UC Law SF, he was a partner at Miller Nash LLP, in Portland, Oregon. In ten years of practice he worked on a broad range of matters, including private and public offerings of securities, angel and venture capital investments, sale of subprime mortgage-backed securities, and negotiation of software licenses. He has been a visiting professor at Berkeley Law and an adjunct professor at Willamette University College of Law and University of Oregon School of Law.


Ken Herzinger Partner, Paul Hastings

Ken Herzinger is a partner in the Investigations and White Collar Defense, Securities Litigation and Fintech & Payments practices of Paul Hastings and is based in the firm’s San Francisco office. His practice focuses on Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) investigations and enforcement actions, internal investigations, and securities class actions.

Erin Zatlin is an associate in the Investigations and White Collar Criminal Defense practice of Paul Hastings and is based in the firm's San Francisco office. Her practice focuses on representation of individuals and corporations in litigation and regulatory enforcement actions, internal investigations, and anti-corruption compliance.

Prior to her time at Circle, Flavia worked at different organizations in the SF Bay Area engaging with industries ranging from software licensing and copyrights to entertainment, e-commerce and payments.


Professor Evan Epstein Executive Director UC Center for Business Law SF

Evan Epstein is the founding Executive Director of the UC Center for Business Law SF, an academic center created to bring together leading scholars, business leaders, practitioners, regulators and students to engage in the study, teaching and practice of business law at UC Law SF. Evan is a corporate governance expert and has advised founders, executives, directors and investors for over 17 years in Silicon Valley and internationally.
